Chilli chocolate brownies

In our series of food that's guaranteed to impress, but is really very easy to make, we're making brownies. But, as you might have guessed (and let's be honest now, read from the title) these brownies come with a twist.

I'm not going to give you a recipe for brownies, most people have one already. Or, if you don't, you can use a ready brownie mix or just google a recipe. It doesn't matter, since it's the secret ingredient that makes it special.

So, all you really need to do is to add dried chilli to your brownie batter. I added about a table spoon. Remember to crush it first, the smaller it is, the better. Ultimately the goal is to have the taste of chilli, without a lot heat. Mix it in the batter and proceed as instructed. I recommend starting with a little less chilli, remember that different types of chillies are different strengths in taste, and then add more to the next batch. (see, this is even better, it allows you to make brownies several time and call it "research")

Another variety of this idea is orange chocolate. I tried this recently and it was a huge hit. All I did was to substitute the liquid in the recipe with freshly squeezed orange juice and added the zest of one lemon in the batter. It's that simple. It's really easy to make and has a twist that makes a basic brownie more interesting.

Let me know how it turns out! Do you have super easy and fast recipes for dessert you could share?
