HipsterCurious turns 1!

One year ago today I finally decided it was time to start my own blog. I had been thinking about it for a long time, but hesitated for quite a while. October 10th I decided to just try it out. I didn't think anyone would read it.

I was right.

I now have more views in a day than I did in an entire month when I first started.

I wasn't quite sure what I'd write about. I still aren't sure, to be honest with you... I have tried all sorts of things and at least know what didn't work. I know I need to just keep writing, since if I over-think it, I know it's not going to work. I can't say I have a particular goal when it comes to my blog either. I just really, really like writing.

I've actually really enjoyed the interactions through comments, messages and e-mails. I remember being so excited with the first comment. It was actually Julie from Penpal of the week! It was in French too! Oh man, I was so excited. I have been reading Julie's blog ever since, even though I rarely comment.

I've heard how people would meet others through blogging and always wondered how does that actually work. But, I guess there's some magical unicorn working in the background as I've definitely started talking to people I don't think I would've, had I not been blogging. That has been awesome!

My goals for the next year of blogging is to better balance that fine line of what I can write about and how personal I can get with it. I am not looking to take pictures of my outfits (you'd be bored to tears. "What? She's wearing a t-shirt and jeans again?) nor will this ever be an open diary of my life, including all sorts of details, dilemmas and real life drama. At the same time, I know I personally like to know a little more about the writers behind the blogs I read. Nothing scandalous, just some small tidbits about their lives.  I've come quite a bit from where I started, since I did actually add a photo showing my face. I wasn't exactly planning on doing that at first either.

I'm sure I will continue thinking about what it is that I'm actually doing, but for right now I wan to say thank you! I love you for reading!
