Walk around the neighbourhood

Yesterday was a beautiful day, crisp and clear. My cold has reduced to an annoying cough and general tiredness, so I figured I'll go for some fresh air and bring my camera too. (This had nothing to do with the fact that DeSerres, a craft store, had a members only sale yesterday)

I have made it a habit to walk everywhere I can, I don't mind if it takes me a bit longer. I also try to make a point of taking different routes to my destination, that way I might just find something I missed last time. I don't mind too much looking like a tourist, so whenever I get a chance I take my time wondering around the streets, snapping photos of interesting buildings.

I always try to keep an eye out for interesting details. This time I looked up and started noticing the gorgeous details that are at the top of the buildings. I love these windows and the colours are just amazing. In my head there just has to be a small writing desk in front of a window like this. Wouldn't you agree it needs to have an antique desk in front of it? That, or I'd accept an old armchair as well. With a floor lamp for reading and a side table for keeping your cup of tea on.

(What do you mean by "overactive" imagination?)

I love the weathered finish and the colours. I think there might be a head of a lion there too. And how could you not love the round little windows. I would imagine those would be so much fun for a kid to look out from!

I was looking for holiday lights, obviously not assuming they'd be on during the day, but just to see where to go take photos when it gets dark. Looks like there aren't that many up yet, so I'll need to wait a bit longer. I guess in the mean time I need to figure out what kind of lights I can hang up at home.

See, I'm not talking about putting up holiday decoration in mid November (frankly, I lost that argument) but just some lights. I'll keep you posted once I have something figured out.

So, are there winter/holiday/whatchamacallit lights up in your neighborhood?

  1. They're up at my house :)

And a few in my neighborhood, but I got a lot of lip for putting up the Christmas decorations.

The longer they're up, the more time I have to enjoy them!

    1. That's exactly what I'm thinking too! I've promised not to put them up yet, but I am slowly getting ready anyway... And I don't really count lights as decorations either, they're practical, right?

  2. Wow, I'm amazed to see such beauty in your neighbourhood :( You really live in a fantastic place!! Where I live (in Italy) everything is so bare and unkempt that it makes me sad!

    1. I am absolutely in love with the area I live in. I'm still amazed on daily basis. I'm sorry to hear you're not happy with the look of your area... I guess that gives a good excuse for more day-dreaming though :D
